EMDR & Somatic Therapy
Individual sessions for adults
The sense of worry has been worse lately.
You’re either constantly on edge or you’re numbed out. The exhaustion of holding it all together has become the norm and you can’t understand why the things that used to work aren’t helping anymore.
You've tried talk therapy in the past but are still troubled by disturbing past events. You're ready for relief and to move forward with your life but feel held back by distressing memories.
Learn how to access your mind + body’s natural capacity to release and heal.
Through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), a structured yet adaptable approach, you can experience relief from your distress. Mind-body practices often work more quickly than talk therapy alone. Healing and recovery from painful memories and negative beliefs is possible - and I want to show you how. I look forward to guiding you through the process of clearing out and releasing the charge of these experiences.
1
First, we work through a preparation process where I teach mindfulness and grounding techniques that can be used in moments of distress. We'll also pinpoint the specific areas of your experience that you're finding the most troubling.
How does it work?
2
As we move forward, we'll focus on decreasing the intensity of these experiences by briefly bringing them to mind and using bilateral stimulation (body-based techniques like tapping or eye movement) to help reprocess and reorganize the memory.
3
We'll then collaborate on the integration of your future life vision with more helpful and positive beliefs. It's not magic - but it might feel like it. It's the use of your body's own ability to heal so that you can become unstuck and your memories become manageable.

No, I do not. However, I am considered an out-of-network provider and you can check with your insurance to see if they offer out-of-network benefits. I can issue you a “superbill” receipt upon request that you can use for this purpose.

It depends and we’ll decide this together. But I recommend meeting weekly to start. As growth goals are met we’ll reduce frequency to every other week, then to monthly until we decide our work is done. My goal isn’t to create reliance on me but to support you through connection you to your own internal and external community resources.
I do encourage meeting weekly for at least for the first 3 sessions.

I see clients Tuesday, 12pm - 5pm; Wednesday - Thursday, 10am - 3pm.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It has been found to be beneficial for a range of concerns including PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, depression and pain. It works through a brief focus on the traumatic event or disturbance while engaging in bilateral stimulation like eye or body movements. You can read more here.

I ask that you let me know at least 24-hours in advance of the need to cancel so that I may offer the spot to someone else and plan accordingly. If you cancel with less than 24-hours notice you will be charged the full session fee. Please note that this fee is typically not covered by insurance if seeking reimbursement.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation call where we can both ask questions and discuss how I may best be able to support you.

This is okay. And just like any relationship sometimes it happens.
One of the most impactful factors for therapy outcomes is a positive connection, trust, and alignment. If me or the type of therapy doesn’t feel like a fit I always welcome a conversation. In the end, this is your care and I will support you in transitioning to another care provider if needed.
